Next Stop: Sam's Club

After our success at Walmart, Product Launchers headed over to the Sam's Club layout center to meet with a few buyers before heading back to New York.

Clearly, Sam Walton never cared about spending money on fancy offices. The layout center is simply an old Sam's Club building. And why not?

I recall several years ago my father, a successful businessman, moved his modern day general store from a 4,500 sq ft facility to an old grocery store location 10x the size. It was a transition that was desperately needed and would prove to be quite fruitful for the long-term growth of the business. And yet even though he was making a multi-million dollar investment, I found it absolutely fascinating that instead of replacing the old ceiling tiles for twenty-five cents a pop, he just painted them. That fresh coat of paint saved him thousands of dollars.

It was a move Sam Walton would've appreciated. Don't spend what you don't need. It's better off being reinvested. Seriously... Nobody looks at the ceiling anyway.
